For the "Inconstant Moon" cover, I chose a photograph of the moon taken at one of my son's soccer games. The first Image gives you an idea of just how miserable a day it was (all season). However bad the natural lighting was for creating a "pretty picture", it gave rather good results when using a 12x optical zoom to produced the detail found in the second image, taken only moments moments after the first.
This original image was cropped and "photosynthesized" to produce the third image which forms the cover image for the novel "Inconstant Moon".
The first layout for the full wraparound cover needed to publish with Create Space included the original author photo selection.
The second layout including a more unconventional author photo was accepted for the final cover art for the first edition of the novel, "Inconstant Moon".
